Trash, Recycling & Yard Waste
The City of Charlack contracts with Waste Management for trash, recycling, and yard waste pickup. Please see the bottom of this page for contact information.
All pickups occur on Wednesday mornings. Holidays may affect this schedule. Please refer to Waste Management's website or our calendar page for holiday pickup schedules.
All waste receptacles must be put out on the street no earlier than 8pm Tuesdays and removed from street no later that 8pm Wednesdays. Trash and recycling must be contained inside of the WM bin. There is a $5.00 per month charge for any extra trash or recycling bins that you can order through Waste Management.
Yard waste must be placed in an appropriate receptacle clearly labelled "Yard Waste." Please contact Waste Management if you do not have one. Yard waste not placed in receptacles, i.e. bundled at curb, is not guaranteed to be picked up.
Residents are allowed one bulk pickup item per month. Additional bulk items can be scheeduled for an additional $25 fee per item. Residents must call Waste Management or reserve online at least seven days in advance to schedule pickup. Bulk items include:
>Appliances, TVs & electronics
>Household furniture
>Scrap metal
>Tires – up to 4 car or light truck tires separated from rims
Bulk items must be placed at curb no earlier than 8pm Tuesdays. Large appliances, or "white goods," cost $30 per item and are not included in bulk pickup.
Resident waste must be contained in receptacles at all times. No dumping of resident waste in any other location in the city is allowed.
The following items are NEVER allowed for pickup or dumpster removal:
>Paint, stain, varnish, thinner and adhesives
>Automotive products such as old fuel, anti-freeze, brake fluid, motor oil and oil filters
>Household cleaners with ammonia or bleach
>Aerosol cans
>Fluorescent light bulbs and lamps
>Computer equipment
>Dead animals
>Garden products including pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
>Propane tanks and fire extinguishers
>Pool or photographic chemicals
>Thermostats, thermometers and other items containing mercury
>Expired prescriptions and non-prescription medications (no controlled substances)
>Sharps (syringes, needles, etc.)*
>Ammunitions, firearms
*WM has a mail-back service for sharps disposal. Contact them directly to arrange this service.
